“Divinum est opus sedare dolorum”; alleviating pain is a sacred art. The sanctity and dignity of the medical profession has risen on this basic philosophy of Hippocrates for thousands of years. As in all branches of medicine, the primary purpose in dentistry is to save the human race, which never wants to be in contact with pain and suffering, from this duo that reduces the general health quality and life standards. The science of endodontics occupies a very important place in this context. Today, the necessity of treating dental pain is not even discussed, not only for the purpose of providing patient comfort, but because it is very clear that it is a source of dozens of situations that may put the individual in life-threatening danger. With the increasing importance given to human health and technology at an unpredictable pace, the science of endodontics has shown tremendous progress in terms of research, clinical applications, theoretical content and scope in the last 20 years. It is not possible for our faculty and department, which has set its own scientific, clinical and educational success and its future as a target, to fall behind this progress. Within all these ideals and principles, our department has undertaken to fulfill all the responsibilities of the medical profession, scientist and instructor.
