The Faculty of Dentistry, which was built in 2 blocks by the esteemed businessman Mehmet Tatar of Kayseri and his wife Hülya Tatar, who adopted the principle of paying the debt of loyalty to the land where they were born, started to continue its education, research and clinical services in its new building at the end of 2006. In addition; In our rapidly growing faculty, the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Hospital, which is the first branch hospital in our country in the field of dentistry, was built and donated to our university by brothers Gülşah and Mert Tatar. Our hospital, which started admitting patients in 2010, was officially opened in 2011. one.
Our Radiology Service, equipped with high-tech medical devices, has ranked first in all parameters among other dentistry faculties in our country. Conical beam dental tomography device, which was purchased with the support of our Almighty State and is only available in a few Dentistry Faculties, was put into service for our citizens in 2011. In the same year, ISO 9001-2008 Quality Management Certificate was awarded to our faculty, which underwent a comprehensive audit by Turkish and German Accreditation Institutions, in the fields of "Dentistry Undergraduate and Doctorate Education, Scientific Research and Development Activities and Oral and Dental Health Diagnosis and Treatment Services". However, it entered into force by being published in the Official Gazette No. 28087 on October 17, 2011.
In the second half of 2012, the Clinics Building was put into service. This building's -1. Our students are offered the opportunity to develop their knowledge and hand skills rapidly with the Preclinical Laboratory located on the 1st floor. On the ground floor of the clinics building, there is a Periodontology clinic with 4 operating rooms. Prosthetic Dentistry 1st, Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics clinics serve the patients on the 2nd, Orthodontics clinic on the 3rd and Pedodontics clinic on the 4th floor.
The same year, 110 students artificial opening into the patient's use of the simulation takes place in our clinic, is among the largest simulation clinic in Turkey. Our Simulation Clinic has been created for students to gain manual dexterity and clinical competence on artificial patients prepared according to pre-determined scenarios. Students watch the visual works of the instructors live through the LCD monitors in their units.
Again in 2012, the most comprehensive research laboratory of our country in the field of Dentistry was located in an additional building built in addition to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Hospital.
In 2014, a dental laboratory was established within our faculty with the principle of quality and reliable service. Experienced technicians provide services in the laboratory, which prioritizes occupational health and safety issues. The laboratory, which serves under the Department of Prosthodontics, is the first and only public laboratory in our country where fixed, mobile, skeletal prostheses, orthodontics and pedodontics are made without being dependent on the outside.
In 2017, it started to perform all sterilization operations by establishing the Central Sterilization Unit, which it has built with state-of-the-art devices, not through service procurement.
Our faculty, which continues its physical development rapidly, shows the same success in education and scientific activities as well as these achievements. Our faculty, which started to work with a total of 11 founding academic staff in 2004, today has a young and dynamic academic staff consisting of 33 faculty members, 115 research assistants and doctoral students. Our 11 faculty members have been sent abroad through Erasmus program or bilateral agreements. With this program, our academicians had the opportunity to spend some of their education and training activities abroad and produced joint research projects. Our faculty is at the top every year in the international publication rankings per faculty member.
Our faculty, which started education with 26 students in the 2005-2006 academic year, has a total of 547 students, 39 of whom are foreign nationals, in 2018, and our faculty is excited, happy and proud to have its 9th graduates. Since its establishment, it has graduated 461 in total. Erciyes University Faculty of Dentistry trains high-quality dentists who are full of love for the country, abide by universal and ethical values, and have basic medical and dental knowledge at the international level. Our academics, who believe in science and its bright path, provide all kinds of oral and dental health services using the latest technology.
