GENERAL INFORMATION

The part of the tooth that is visible in the mouth is called a crown, and the part that is not visible in the mouth and remains in the bone is called the root. Our tooth consists of several layers. The outer part of the crown, the part seen in our mouth, is called enamel. The cementum layer covers the root part of our teeth under the gum and surrounded by bone. There is also a dentin layer under the enamel and cementum layers. The feature of dentin is the largest layer of the tooth and, unlike the enamel layer, it contains nerve endings. With this feature, it plays a role in the pain mechanism. There is the pulp of the tooth under the dentin layer. This part contains the veins and nerves of the tooth.
Root canal treatment usually comes to mind when it comes to endodontics. Root canal treatment is the process of removing the diseased tissue and filling it with root canal filling materials as a result of damage to the soft tissue (pulp) consisting of nerves and vessels in the tooth to a degree that cannot repair itself. After root canal treatment, the tooth is cut off from the surrounding tissues, the infection does not occur again and if there is any damage to the surrounding tissues of the tooth, it is aimed to be repaired.
