GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT
Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Department continued its studies as a discipline under the Department of Restorative Dentistry until 2011. In 2011 these two departments separated and our department has become a independent one. Assoc. Prof. Dr. E. Murat Canger works as the head of the department since 2016.
Right now in our department; one associate professor, one assistant professor, one master of science student and four research assistans work. In our clinic there are ; one dental tomography device, one ultrasonography device, one digital cephalometric and panoramic radiography device, four digital panoramic x-ray units, two periapical x-ray units and three phosphor plaque-scanner devices. In our examination clinic, we have 9 patient chairs with computer systems to follow digital images.
In our radiology clinic we have one technician, 3 technician assistants and one health physician work for radiology services.
Our support services carried on by two secretaries, one physician assistant and one cleaning staff .
Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Department give bachelor degree level theoretical education to dental students who are in their fifth and sixth terms. The sixth term students also have observation duties in examination clinic. The students who are in their 7-8th and 9-10th terms, given education in clinics as intern dentists.
In our department we also give specialization trianing to dentists.
Our departmant's duty is to do the first examinations of patients, take radiography images and guide them to the clinics that they have to go. With medical history taking and asking questions about their complaints, we make evaluations of patients' medical and dental status. After determinating the extraoral and intraoral clinical findings, and with the help of the radiologic images we make examinations about teeth and jaws. And after clinical and radiologic examinations, we evaluate the differential diagnosis. Lastly we make patients' treatment plans with final diagnosis ang guide them to the related clinics.
ATTENTION TO OUR PATIENTS
1. The female patients who are pregnant or have possibility of pregnancy should not enter the radiology clinic.
2. Most of our patients need different radiologic examinations during the inspection and treatment process. Patients should not carry any metal objects within their head and neck region during the radiologic examinations. Please do not wear anything like earrings, necklaces, piercings, metal accesories and pin & hasps.
3. Take of your denture prosthesis if you have one.
